Why Private Yoga Sessions?

Traditionally in India, yoga is taught in personalized one-on-one sessions. Here in the West, we seem to attempt a one-size-fits-all approach in group yoga classes. Sure, we try to offer different styles of classes so there are options that range from very gentle to very strenuous, and good yoga teachers also know how to offer various modifications within each class to appeal to the needs of individuals.

However, there’s only so much personalization that can occur in a group class. We all have unique physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual issues which can indeed be addressed through yoga – but the teacher needs to be informed of these ahead of time. In private sessions, the student is able to work more deeply with the teacher on unique needs and issues affecting not only the physical yoga practice, but also daily living. The student can even request more specialized teaching and practice with breathing techniques, concentration/meditation, or other subjects of personal interest.

I invite you to try out some personalized yoga sessions. How many do you need? That’s completely up to you depending on your needs and goals. For example, you may only need 2-4 sessions to help create practices you wish to do at home or would like to incorporate as modifications whenever you attend group classes. Or you may find that you genuinely enjoy having a private yoga session once or twice a week on a more long-term basis.

Your vibrant health is in your hands – and you always have choices. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. Namaste….
